Serving Families Throughout Melville
|

(MELVILLE, New York) Vivian Garrastegui, Elder Law Attorney and Partner at Schneider, Garrastegui & Fedele, PLLC, will give a 90-minute Spanish presentation of Managing Money: A Caregivers Guide to Finances over Zoom with the Alzheimer’s Association on September 14th, 2022 at 4 p.m. EDT.

“I look forward to once again speaking for The Alzheimer’s Association. This virtual meeting will be a great opportunity for Spanish-speaking families and caregivers to begin addressing important questions they should be asking regarding finances for senior citizens. The growing Spanish-speaking community has diverse family dynamics, and this is a special chance to begin conversations that can often be difficult to discuss. Important considerations can be brought to light and more broadly appreciated in such a positive and supportive family atmosphere.”

Garrastegui continues her relationship with the Alzheimer’s Association, speaking to educate audiences about vital financial management and planning matters that often dovetail with the Association’s ongoing programs to which she is firmly committed.

“Here, we have an opportunity to raise awareness and support for the fight against Alzheimer’s and educate people about proper management of financial assets with retirement and estate plans in mind. I am pleased and honored to present this information to a Spanish-speaking audience that through their commitment to a deserving cause is already showing they care about their families and the well-being of elders in their community.”

Garrastegui was an adjunct professor for graduate studies at Adelphi University and has more than 30 years of experience in elder law; trusts and estates; Medicaid planning, Medicaid applications, and Medicaid fair hearings; probate and administration proceedings; all phases of contested and uncontested guardianship proceedings.

Garrastegui is an OCA Part 36 list fiduciary and has been appointed as a court examiner, court evaluator, guardian, and attorney for the incapacitated person in guardianship proceedings by the Appellate Division of the First and Second Departments. She is admitted to practice in New York and the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Garrastegui is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Suffolk County, New York State, and Nassau County Bar Associations and is a Board member of the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association.

Garrastegui earned her B.A. Degree with Honors from Long Island University and her J.D. degree from Brooklyn Law School. She is also fluent in Spanish.
