MELVILLE, New York—Vivian Garrastegui, Elder Law Attorney and Partner at Schneider, Garrastegui & Fedele, PLLC, is pleased to announce that she will be speaking at a live online seminar sponsored by the National Business Institute (NBI). The Protecting Assets While Qualifying for Medicaid seminar will be held online on April 25, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern. During her presentation, Garrastegui will educate the audience on the following:

  • Transfers and Eligibility
  • What’s Involved in the Medicaid Qualification Process

Since 1987, Garrastegui has practiced Elder Law, Medicaid Planning, Asset Protection, Estate Planning, Guardianship Proceedings, Special Needs Planning, Medicaid Fair Hearings, Real Estate, Preparation of Wills and Trusts, Contested and Uncontested Guardianship Proceedings, and Probate and Administration Proceedings.

As an Elder Law Attorney, her primary focus is preserving and protecting her clients’ assets, resources, and income to the extent permitted by law. When processing Medicaid applications, Garrastegui exhibits an eye for detail and advises clients on transferring assets and preparing Medicaid Qualifying Trusts and Supplemental Needs Trusts.

In addition to the National Business Institute™, she has made presentations on Elder Law, estate matters, Asset Protection, Medicaid Planning, Special Needs Planning, and Trusts and Estates at local libraries, community centers, and U.S. Veterans organizations.

Garrastegui is an OCA Part 36 list fiduciary and has been appointed as a Court Examiner, Court Evaluator, Guardian, and Attorney for the Incapacitated Person in guardianship proceedings by the Appellate Division of the First and Second Departments. She is admitted to practice in New York and the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Garrastegui is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys; and the Suffolk County, New York State, and Nassau County Bar Associations and is a Board member of the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association.

Proficient in Spanish, Garrastegui earned her B.A. degree, with honors, from Long Island University and her J.D. degree from Brooklyn Law School.
